New England Tartan
Acrylic on cradled board, 24” x 24” 2017
“I am part highland scot by birth
With family crest & kilts special;
While such history is a joy
A Yankee Tartan I now employ.”

Fresh Air Sketch
This is another from the series based on a small piece of the painting MANY ROOMS. That area is shown to the right in its original color and form
In each of the series the edge lines were extended according to different rules and a new pattern developed. A pair of dark and light colors, derived from the original, were then selected and manipulated.
I am proud of my Scottish heritage and my family tartan but I am now a “Live Free or Die” American. The colors in this painting are from the autumns we experience here in New Hampshire
