“May I look in your Windows
Past the patina of your skin
Perhaps to see the soul within?
‘Tis thus understanding grows.”

St. Remy is a wonderful town in Provence. The many walks through this old city delivered such marvelous buildings with rich patina. The walls were all so friendly, the streets and alleys close knit. As one slowly strolled by you got glimpses into the old interiors through darkened windows and open doors.
This made me think about humans beings. As we age we get the patina of a life lived well or not. Each of us has a window that allows others to peek into our interiors and tell something about who we are and where we have been.
It’s a shame that human patina is no longer revered in our youth oriented world.
