“A volcanic isle
Hot lava spues forth
An Island Rises
in an Iris’s shape?”

The Art Café and Photography Café participated in a Collaborative Show where the Art Café members chose a photograph to Interpret.

This photograph by Jay Fitzpatrick is of the lovely Bearded Iris.

While thinking about how to abstract this I noticed that the outline of the flower could be a cluster of islands. The oranges could be active volcanoes while the other colors would be exposed lava ridges and early evidence of plant life growing on the volcanic soil – now soil.

Perhaps a little whimsical for such a wonderful photograph but that’s what I saw.
